Guardiola was official unveiled as Jupp Heynckes replacement on Monday, ending his year-long sabbatical that followed his departure from Barcelona.

And Bayern fans got their first chance to see the former Spanish international in action on Wednesday, the 42-year-old taking his new squad through its paces as they prepare to defend their Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League titles next season.

And according to the Daily Mail, the Allianz pitch was clipped and watered before the session to allow quick, attacking movements - an ethos of the Guardiola regime.

However, the new boss was without a number of first-team players for his first training run, with injuries, late-arrivals and international commitments undermining the squad.

Dutchman Arjen Robben and Croatia international Mario Mandzukic are yet to return, new signing Mario Gotze and Bastian Schweinsteiger are recovering from injury, while Brazilians Dante, Luiz Gustavo and Spanish midfielder Javi Martinez are still on Confederations Cup duty.

Spectators are reported to have paid five euros to watch the session, with the money raised going to help the victims of the recent German floods.
