Vidosic appointed Sydney FC assistant

Rado Vidosic has been appointed as the new assistant to Sydney FC head coach Frank Farina.

The former Brisbane Roar coach has been in talks with the Sky Blues for weeks and on Thursday signed a two-year deal with the rival A-League club.

Vidosic was the inaugural assistant coach at the Roar and served under former head coach Ange Postecoglou during their two championship-winning seasons.

He took the reins when Postecoglou made the move to Melbourne Victory but was moved into the Roar's technical director role midway through last season.

Farina, who worked with Vidosic at the Roar between 2006 and 2009, says he's happy to be reuniting with him.

"Having worked with him before, I know he is a first-class coach and will give the squad an extra influence," Farina said.

"He has a real analytical and tactical brain and is very experienced in bringing the best out of players."

Vidosic said he was looking forward to working with the Sydney FC squad.

"There is a great potential at Sydney FC and I hope to work extremely closely with the players and help them make the most of their ability," he said.

"We have a very strong and talented squad and I expect us to be challenging for honours this season."

Steve Corica, who has been the Sky Blues assistant coach since July 2011, has been appointed head coach of Sydney FC's youth league team.
