Camplone: Allegri staying with Milan

Perugia coach Andrea Camplone has claimed that Massimiliano Allegri could yet stay on as AC Milan coach.

• Paul: Sunday showdown

Camplone, a close friend of the Milan manager, says that he received a phone call from Allegri in which he cleared up the speculation surrounding his future.

Allegri's position with the Rossoneri has been shrouded in mystery since a meeting with club vice-president Adriano Galliani on May 22 with no clarification on whether he will remain or not.

President Silvio Berlusconi said on Friday that he will meet with Allegri on Sunday in an attempt to find a resolution for the situation, but Camplone believes that may have already happened.

"I received a phone call that made me very happy," Camplone said in a press conference.

"Allegri called me up to wish me the best for the play-offs. He told me he's staying with Milan because the players are all behind him, so are the fans and he certainly won't be leaving of his own accord."

Meanwhile, Sky Sport Italia report that Roma, who were interested in appointing Allegri should he leave Milan, have been forced to divert their search for a new coach elsewhere.
