Mancini thanks City fans

ESPN staff

Roberto Mancini has taken out a full-page advert in the Manchester Evening News to thank Manchester City fans for their support during his time as manager of the club. • Brewin: No case for defence
• WhoScored: Stats support axe
• Jolly: City gamble with sacking
Mancini was dismissed by City on Monday following the club's failure to defend their Premier League title this season and the shock 1-0 defeat to Wigan in the FA Cup final last Saturday. The Italian's time at the club was largely a success though. He led City to their first league title since 1968 in 2012 and also won the 2011 FA Cup in a three-and-a-half year spell in charge.

Mancini took an ad in the MEN today with money from his own pocket to thank the fans. Pure class(@danmcfcjones)
