Alexis handed four-match ban

Getafe defender Alexis has been banned for four matches following his sending-off against Real Valladolid at the weekend.

The 27-year-old was dismissed for an elbow on Patrick Ebert in the 76th minute as the pair contested an aerial ball which would normally carry a one-game suspension.

But Alexis has been handed an extra two games for his protestations towards the officials and a further game for spitting into the crowd as he made his way towards the tunnel.

Getafe are currently six points behind sixth-placed Valencia in the race for a Europa League place and Alexis will be eligible to return to action in the potentially pivotal match between the two sides on the final day of the season.
