RVP: United may be my last club

27/03/2013

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie admits he may end his career at Old Trafford.

• Blog: A bittersweet evening

Van Persie, 29, signed for the Red Devils from Arsenal last summer on a four-year deal for 24 million.

And while his current contract will only take him up to the age of 33, the Netherlands international says the way the likes of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes are valued by the club could be enough to persuade him to commit himself to United for his final years.

"For the next few years I will be at Manchester United - and maybe longer. United could be my last club,'' he told told Dutch magazine Voetbal International.

"You have a number of clubs in Europe where older players can find it good, where they are valued. You used to have that at Juventus and AC Milan, Manchester United today is a good example. So who knows how long I will stay at the club.

"There is a new challenge for me every day at United. My development is an ongoing process. That gets an extra boost when you are surrounded by new coaches and team-mates, all with their own ideas, in a totally new environment.''

Van Persie has been in inspirational form for United for most of the season having hit 19 Premier League goals, however, he is going through something of a drought of late, scoring just once in his last ten matches for the club.
