'Chicharito' included in Mexico roster news services

Manchester United striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez was included Thursday in Mexico's 23-man Mexico squad for World Cup qualifiers versus Honduras on March 22 in San Pedro Sula and against the United States at the Azteca on March 26.

Three World Cup spots are at stake in the Hexagonal tournament, and a fourth 2014 berth will go to the winner of a two-game playoff between the fourth-place Hexagonal finisher and a team from Oceania. El Tri will begin its training on March 18.

FIFA released its March rankings Thursday, with Mexico remaining at No. 15, and the United States falling one place to No. 33 despite not playing.

Ajaccio goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa was also included on the squad by coach Jose Manuel "Chepo" de la Torre as well as Espanyol's Hector Moreno, Villarreal's Javier Aquino, Valencia's Andres Guardado and Mallorca's Giovani dos Santos. Leon's Jonny Magallon also got a surprise call-up.

Goalkeepers: Guillermo Ochoa (AC Ajaccio), Jesus Corona (Cruz Azul) and Alfredo Talavera (Toluca).

Defense: Severo Meza (Monterrey), Jonny Magallon (Leon), Francisco Rodríguez (America), Hector Moreno (Espanyol de Barcelona), Hugo Ayala (Tigres), Diego Reyes (America), Jorge Torres Nilo (Tigres), Carlos Salcido (Tigres), Jesus Zavala (Monterrey).

Midfielders: Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul), Jesus Molina (America), Hector Herrera (Pachuca), Javier Aquino (Villarreal), Andres Guardado (Valencia).

Forwards: Angel Reyna (Pachuca), Giovani Dos Santos (Mallorca), Oribe Peralta (Santos Laguna), Javier Hernandez (Manchester United), Omar Bravo (Atlas) and Raul Alonso Jimenez (America).
