Lyon miss chance at Brest

ESPN staff

Lyon failed to take full advantage of PSG's slip-up against Reims, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Brest on Sunday.

Kamel Chafni gave the strugglers an eighth-minute lead, only for Tripy Makonda's own goal eight minutes into the second half to earn Remi Garde's visitors a point.

However, Lyon failed to get the breakthrough again and are two points behind PSG, with little hope of overhauling the capital club's goal difference, while Brest move five points clear of the bottom three.

Marseille went third as they came from behind with two goals inside the last ten minutes to seal a 2-1 win over bottom side Troyes.

After Marseille had dominated the game in terms of chances created, Marcos gave Troyes a shock lead in the 70th minute. However, Modou Sougou arrived from off the bench and soon set up Nicolas N'Koulou for an equaliser ten minutes later.

Sougou proved a valuable addition as his pass found Andre-Pierre Gignac, who netted the winner within two minutes to move OM back up the table and into contention for the Champions League.

Lille kept up their chase for European football as they beat Bordeaux 2-1 with the winner coming from former Chelsea star Salomon Kalou.

Bordeaux had gone ahead through a Jaroslav Plasil penalty, but Ronny levelled the scores soon after the half-time break.

Lille then went ahead as Kalou scored the winner in the 72nd minute to move them to within four points of fourth-placed St Etienne.
