Pellegrini fumes over 'offside' winner

Malaga boss Manuel Pellegrini believes Porto's match-winning strike should have been ruled out for offside as his team went down 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League tie.

• Kundert: Mighty Moutinho
• Cartlidge: Minimal damage for Malaga

Pellegrini's men fell to a Joao Moutinho goal in the 56th minute in Portugal. While acknowledging Malaga did not play well, Pellegrini felt Porto also did not deserve to win the round of 16 match.

"Porto didn't really hurt us and the goal was offside," he explained. "I thought from the beginning that Moutinho was offside.

"We were not a good Malaga because Porto pressed us well. We didn't create much space. Playing a game this badly, we didn't create many chances. I hope that, at home, we can reverse the situation.

"We can turn the scoreboard at home if we can play as [we normally do]. We played badly going forward."

Malaga will host Porto in the second leg of the tie at La Rosaleda Stadium on March 13.
