Roberto Mancini threatens changes

ESPN.com news services

MANCHESTER, England -- Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini said he is ready to implement changes after his team's 3-1 defeat at Southampton left the champions trailing Manchester United by 12 points in the Premier League, with only 12 games to go.

Mancini told the local Manchester Evening News on Monday that he only wants players "who are ready to fight; I am very angry with a lot of my players and very disappointed at the performance."

The Italian coach added "you also need to be able to win because you fight for every ball, and fight against an opponent who also wants to win the game."

Looking ahead to Sunday's FA Cup game against Leeds, he said "I am sure we will change that, because I will change players next week."
