Cernak seeks to boost Phoenix

Wellington Phoenix have signed attacking midfielder Isaka Cernak from Melbourne Victory as they try to find a way out of a four-game A-League losing streak.

Cernak, an Australian under-23 international, has made 21 appearances for the Victory since the beginning of last season and also played for Brisbane Roar and North Queensland Fury.

Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert said Cernak was likely to be included in the squad to play Newcastle Jets on Sunday.

"Isaka will add something attacking wise in the midfield," Herbert said.

"I've always liked him and when the chance came to have him for the rest of the season I jumped at it."
