Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar has urged his team-mates to retain their focus during a nine-day break before their push for Champions League qualification resumes.
• Neville eyes top-three spot
Having drawn 0-0 at home to Swansea last Saturday, David Moyes' side do not play again until they travel to Southampton on Monday night. The extra couple of days' rest will come in useful for a small Everton squad stretched by the busy Christmas programme.
However, Pienaar is keen to ensure that the Toffees' squad do not take their eye off the ball as they attempt to climb into the Premier League's top four.
"Sometimes you need to refuel and hopefully we can do that now," Pienaar told the club's official website.
"But I hope it works in a positive way because sometimes when the game is so far away the guys can relax and forget about it and that could work against us.
"The break will be important but it's equally important that doesn't happen."
Moyes' side currently sit in fifth position in the Premier League, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
