ESPN staff

Dundee United have given managerless Blackpool permission to speak to Peter Houston about the vacant post at Bloomfield Road.

The Seasiders have been without a boss since Michael Appleton quit for Blackburn after only having ben appointed in November.

They will now hold talks with 54-year-old Houston, who has been in charge at Tannadice for three years.

A Dundee United spokesperson said: "The club have granted Blackpool permission to contact Peter Houston.

"That's on the basis that, as a football club, we won't stand in the way of anyone furthering their career."
