Espanyol's Wakasu Mubarak, Evian's Mohammed Rabiu, FC Porto's Christian Atsu, Esperance Sportive de Tunis' Emmanuel Clotey and on-loan Juventus striker Richmond Boakye were all included in their maiden African Cup squad.
Boayke and Clotey join captain Asamoah Gyan as the strikers, while, as expected, Marseille's Andre Ayew did not make the final 23 after he was excluded for failing to arrive at the squad's camp in the United Arab Emirates in time to have an injury assessed.
Ghana will also go to South Africa without AC Milan pair Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari, as well as Real Madrid's Michael Essien.
The Black Stars find themselves in Group B along with Congo, Mali and Niger. The tournament kicks off on January 19.
