Hernanes fires Lazio into Coppa semis

A brace from Brazilian striker Hernanes has fired Lazio into the Coppa Italia semi-finals after a 3-0 win over Catania at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio took the lead after 30 minutes when Stefan Radu scored his first goal of the season, sending a glancing header past a helpless Catania 'keeper at the near post.

Although Catania emerged stronger after the break, their momentum was halted when Lazio doubled their lead through Hernanes.

Sergio Floccari burst through the visitors' defence and cut the ball back from the by-line to the 27-year-old who tucked away his shot from six yards.

That combination proved too much for Catania, with a tidy reverse pass from Floccari putting Hernanes through in stoppage time to seal the 3-0 win.

Lazio will face the winner of Wednesday's clash between Juventus and AC Milan in Turin.
