Tito Vilanova visits Barca players
ESPN.com news services
Just 13 days post-surgery, Tito Vilanova reappeared at the Barcelona training facility on Wednesday morning, addressed his players, and returned Wednesday evening to run practice.
Vilanova showed up at the Barca training facility to meet with the players for the morning session but did not go out on to the pitch to direct practice. He did, however, conduct Wednesday evening practice with the players who had not done morning workouts.
Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song were in attendance, although Lionel Messi and Adriano Correia, both of whom are still traveling, were not.
Assistant coach Jourdi Roura ran the morning practice and prepared the team headed to a friendly vs. Nigeria on Wednesday evening.
Vilanova underwent a second throat surgery on Dec. 20 after a tumor on a saliva gland reappeared.
The 44-year-old coach is expected to continue his chemotherapy and radiotherapy for up to six weeks. The club has no timetable for his return but had said earlier that Vilanova could return to the sidelines while continuing treatment.
Barcelona faces Espanyol on Sunday.
