Vukcevic recovery continues

Stephan Uersfeld, Germany Correspondent

Hoffenheim midfielder Boris Vukcevic has continued his recovery from a car crash by thanking Bundesliga fans and clubs for their ongoing support.

Vukcevic lost control of his car and crashed into a truck coming from the opposite direction on September 28. The player sustained serious head injuries and remained in a critical condition for over two weeks before coming out of a coma eight weeks after the accident.

On Sunday his family released a statement on his behalf in which the player thanked everyone for their ongoing support.

"Above all, I want to thank the Hoffenheim supporters and team for all their support during this difficult time," the statement said.

"I send you all my best, but also ask you to give me the time and rest I need to get back on my feet." Hoffenheim general manager Andreas Muller was happy about the news and pledged that the club will continue to stand by him.

"It puts everything else into perspective. A few weeks ago it would have been hard to believe that Boris would make such progress. We're really happy about it and will continue to give him all the support he needs."
