Walker: Villas-Boas has settled in

Tottenham defender Kyle Walker has admitted the methods employed by boss Andre Villas-Boas took some getting used to, but he believes the Spurs players now feel at home working with the Portuguese tactician.

The arrival of Villas-Boas changed the mentality of the coaching set-up dramatically from the British regime employed by Harry Redknapp during his time as Spurs boss and Walker has conceded there was a settling in period required during the first few weeks of the season.

"All the lads are getting used to it now," Walker said. "I was used to working with Kevin Blackwell, Neil Warnock and Harry Redknapp and foreign managers have a different way of playing football, but you have to adapt because you want to do well for the manager and for the club.

"The manager is not one to start raising his voice and chucking things but you can tell when he is angry. You know he is disappointed because he knows you can do better. I've not heard him shout yet, but he is very passionate about football and Tottenham.

"The manager is very tactically aware and he has helped me with my game in his time here. The training sessions are different every time depending on who we are playing and he has helped me with my game."

It is not just on the pitch that Villas-Boas has changed the mentality at Tottenham, proving he is oozing with festive spirit after urging his players to have 'two or three' parties in the run-up to Christmas.

Redknapp banned Tottenham's stars from revelling in festive parties during his time as Spurs boss, but his successor has a very different view on the subject.

"I don't think results are related to the Christmas party," Villas-Boas said. "You never know but I don't think that is related to the Christmas party. It is normal because it is part of our group spirit, so we will try to get two or three in, if not more."
