Jol plays down Bent and Beckham talk

Fulham manager Martin Jol has not ruled out the possibility of signing Darren Bent, but has stated that David Beckham will not be coming to Craven Cottage.

There is plenty of speculation currently surrounding the future of Bent, 28, who has repeatedly been left out of Paul Lambert's starting line-up this season.

Jol has been linked with the man that he signed for Tottenham in 2007, however, the Fulham boss feels he currently has enough strikers.

"I signed him at Tottenham because if you saw him at Charlton he scored almost one every two games, so I thought he's a quality finisher," he told the Fulham & Hammersmith Chronicle.

"You never know, but we've got three good strikers. We've got Hugo Rodallega, Mladen Petric and Dimitar Berbatov. In the hole, we've got (Bryan) Ruiz. Of course we could do with maybe another creative player in that position, then I could leave Berbatov up front all the time."

Beckham, 37, is another player being linked with a move to a new club, after having played his last game for Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday.

While the former Manchester United midfielder has been linked with a return to England, Jol has made it clear that his next destination will not be Fulham.

"We want to try and get a younger team," Jole said. "On average, we are the oldest team in the Premier League and it would be crazy to get players like David Beckham for Alex Kacaniklic, Kerim Frei and Pajtim Kasami.

"He's an unbelievable player and he's good to have around, but for us it's a non-starter."
