Keane: Beckham has a few years left

Robbie Keane believes LA Galaxy team-mate David Beckham has plenty left to offer as the former England captain prepares to play his last game in the United States.

Keane will line up alongside Beckham for the final time when Galaxy take on Houston Dynamo in the MLS Cup final on Saturday, after which Beckham will consider offers for what he has branded his 'final challenge'.

And Republic of Ireland striker Keane, who credits Beckham for enticing him to the MLS after training together with Tottenham in January 2010, believes the 37-year-old is capable of playing a few more seasons at the top.

"His ability on the ball is the best I've seen - his passing in particular," Keane told Sky Sports News. "He has definitely a few years left in him."

"He still has the hunger," Keane added, though he was in the dark as to where Beckham might move to next. "He wants to go and try to win a league somewhere else - I'm not really too sure."

Beckham's departure would leave LA Galaxy without a 'designated player' - a star whose wages are allowed to exceed the league's salary cap. Frank Lampard, out of contract with Chelsea this summer, has been mooted as a replacement for Beckham, and Keane would welcome the arrival of the Premier League stalwart.

"Frank is obviously a great player and he's proven that over the years at Chelsea," Keane continued. "He's been a top professional and we certainly do need players like Frank."

As for his own immediate future, Keane is yet to decide whether to return to the Premier League on loan this winter, as he did in January 2012 with Aston Villa.

"It's not something that I've really sat down and thought about too much, to be honest," Keane admitted. "Of course you do miss the Premiership - I watch the games over here every week so I do miss it."
