Owner: Luiz Adriano's goal 'unacceptable'

Associated Press

DONETSK, Ukraine -- Shakhtar Donetsk owner Rinat Akhmetov says it was "unacceptable" for Luiz Adriano to score an uncontested goal against Champions League opponent Nordsjaelland.

Akhmetov says the Ukrainian club is "deeply disappointed" with the incident last week in Denmark, subject to disciplinary hearing Tuesday before the Union of European Football Associations.

UEFA charged Adriano with "violation of the principles of conduct" for scoring when Nordsjaelland defenders stopped to let the ball reach their goalkeeper after a drop ball.

The Brazilian forward's goal tied the score 1-1, and he scored two more goals in a 5-2 victory that clinched advancement to the second round.

If UEFA suspends Adriano, a two-match ban would include the first-leg match in the second round.

Akhmetov says "we will accept and abide by UEFA's decision."
