Everton interested in Forren

Everton manager David Moyes is ready to compete with Fulham for Molde's centre back Vegard Forren in January.

Moyes watched Forren, 24, play for Norway as they beat Hungary 2-0 in Budapest on Wednesday.

The club also sent a scout to watch the defender play for his club against Steaua Bucharest in the Europa League in September - something the player is reportedly flattered by.

"If it is true then of course it is interesting, but it is not something I am thinking about," Forren told Norwegian newspaper Romerikes Blad.

"I have been able to cope with the step up to the national team and in Europe and I feel I have played well enough to suggest that I am ready for a better league."

The Norway international is valued at around 2.5 million by Molde manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has attracted interest from several clubs - including Fulham - as a result of his performances for the Norwegian champions.

Moyes is keen to add youth to a central defence that already has plenty of experience, with Phil Jagielka, Sylvain Distin and John Heitinga competing for two places.

Fulham's interest in Forren was sparked when his international team-mate Brede Hangeland recommended him to manager Martin Jol.
