The installation of tents in which away fans were searched for flares before Eintracht Frankfurt's game at Bayern Munich has been described an "intensive intrusion into civil rights" by fan lawyers.

Two tents were installed under a measure recommended in a joint German league and FA report called The Safe Stadium Experience.

Some of the proposals in the document have come under fire from several Bundesliga and Bundesliga II clubs and, in a statement released on Friday, Frankfurt fan liaison officers described the document as "unrewarding".

The tents were installed on the initiative of Bavarian police, and were overseen by German FA safety supervisors.

Frankurt supporters were asked to take off their jackets so they could be searched for flares, but none were found.

"We have clearly pointed out [to the Bavarian police] that we are, to the fullest extent, against those measures," the Frankfurt fans' statement said. "We consider them inappropriate and unreasonable."

A club statement had urged fans to remain patient as the searches were carried out, but around 150 chose to boycott the match as a result of the searches being imposed.

But both Bayern and the Bavarian police said after the match that the measures had worked and would be repeated when the Bundesliga leaders played clubs whose fans could attempt to bring flares into the stadium.
