France international Gourcuff, 26, played an hour at the Stade du Ray and provided an assist for Bafetimbi Gomis in an encouraging performance.

"I didn't have pain in my knee," Gourcuff told the French media. "That's the most important thing. I need to keep training with the team, playing games."

It was his first appearance since August 18 and he added: "I have been out for more than two months, not for six months!

"I'm glad to be back. I worked for it. I am on the pitch because I am ready, at 100%. The injury is behind me, but I'm not satisfied because we lost 3-1."
