Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid eased to victory in the fourth round of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night, while Rayo Vallecano will have to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Las Palmas.
First half goals to Karim Benzema and Kaka gave Real a 2-0 lead at Segunda Division B side Alcoyano, before a Jose Rodriguez added a third to put the game beyond reach.
Javi Lara pulled one back for the hosts but Benzema sealed his brace for a 4-1 first leg win.
Atletico extended their winning run to 13 matches in all competitions with a 3-0 victory at Jaen.
Jaen suffered an early setback when Daniel Torres was sent off after just 25 minutes for a handball in the penalty area. Diego Costa converted from the spot to give Atletico the lead before second half goals from Adrian and Raul Garcia ensured the second leg in Madrid will be a mere formality.
La Liga outfit Malaga narrowly edged out second-tier Cacereno 4-3 in an eventful encounter.
Oguchi Onyewu gave Malaga the lead in just the second minute, with Roque Santa Cruz soon doubling their advantage. But Cacereno pulled two goals back before half-time through Juan Jaraiz and Alberto Chapi to bring the minnows back into the match.
Malaga regrouped after the break, though, Duda scoring from the penalty spot before Santa Cruz completed his brace.
Esteve Rodriguez pulled another goal back for the home side, but Malaga held on for the win.
Elsewhere, Rayo Vallecano's progression is in doubt after Thievy secured a 1-0 win for Segunda side Las Palmas, a goal from Carlos Aranda handed Real Zaragoza a 1-0 win over Granda and Celta Vigo had no response for Almeria's attack as the Segunda side ran out 2-0 winners in Andalusia.
