Callejon: Copa matters to Real

Real Madrid winger Jose Callejon says that Real Madrid are determined to regain the Copa del Rey trophy as they prepare to enter the competition at the last 32 stage at third-tier Alcoyano on Wednesday night.

Callejon, who scored as a late substitute in Madrid's 5-0 La Liga win at Real Mallorca on Sunday night, is likely to start against the Alicante-based minnows and said that the 2011 Copa winners would not be taking the game lightly.

"The Copa del Rey is one more trophy," Callejon told the website of Madrid's sponsors Bwin on Monday. "We are playing for Real Madrid and our aim is to fight for every title to win it. Our objective is to win every competition we enter. In the cup, just like in all the other competitions, we will give it everything we have."

Alcoyano currently sit fifth in their Segunda B section, after defeating Sant Andreu 2-0 at home last weekend. Callejon, 25, said that any win at the El Collao stadium, where extra temporary seating is being installed to bring the capacity over 6,000, would be a good result for Jose Mourinho's side.

"I would take any win, even by the minimum margin," he said. "For them playing Real Madrid is an incentive, and it will definitely be a hard game. As I always say, we are Madrid, we must go out to win in every game and every competition. I would always take a win."

Former Madrid youth-teamer Callejon, who spent three seasons at Espanyol before being brought back to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2011 for 5 million, said he was happy to be playing for the club he had always supported.

"I have always been a Madrid supporter," he said. "Ever since I was little I have followed Madrid. I grew up in the youth team and I have been fortunate enough to be able to return to the first team. And I always say the same thing: I am a Madrid fan. These colours mean a lot to me and I will always defend this badge to the death because it means so much to me."
