Bordeaux striker Yoan Gouffran has stated he wants to see out his contract at the club rather than leave in the January transfer window.
Gouffran, 26, is under contract with Les Girondins until June 2013, meaning he is free to negotiate a new contract with another club in a few months and join them at the end of the season.
Rather than lose their player for free, and with their own attempts at contract negotiations proving unsuccessful so far, Bordeaux are considering selling the former France Under-21 international in January.
However, Gouffran would rather see out the rest of the season at his current club than potentially switching teams mid-season.
"I want to finish my contract with Bordeaux," he told the club's official website.
Bordeaux have not had the start to the season they would have hoped for, sitting sixth in Ligue 1 after eight games, winning just three.
But the former Caen player is quietly confident that his side can find their form and mount a challenge for the title.
"It will be difficult but we can do it," Gouffran said. "It also depends on the dynamics. If we start winning games and everyone feels concerned, it can happen."
"It will be difficult anyway because some teams are better armed than ours."
