Andy Wilkinson will serve a three-match suspension after deciding against appealing the Football Association's disciplinary charge for elbowing Mario Balotelli.
Wilkinson was originally due to respond to the retrospective charge by 1800 BST on Wednesday, but was given a further 24 hours by the FA to consider an appeal.
And the right back has now reluctantly agreed to accept the charge, for the incident which was initially missed by match referee Mark Clattenburg.
Manager Tony Pulis has scrutinised DVD footage of the incident where full back Wilkinson appears to catch the Manchester City in the face with his arm, during last Saturday's 1-1 draw at the Britannia Stadium.
"We have had a good look at the video, but will have to take it on the chin," said Pulis.
Wilkinson risked having his ban extended by a further game, if any appeal to the FA was deemed frivolous.
He will now miss the weekend trip to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and the home game against Swansea and the trip to Liverpool , ahead of the international break next month.
