• Hughes: Positive signs for Villa
Lowton, 23, joined Villa in the summer for a reported £3million, making a two-division leap from life in League One with Sheffield United.
The right-back scored a first competitive goal for the club against Swansea on Saturday, setting them on the way to their first Premier League victory of the season.
And club colleague Bent, 28, whose only goal so far this season came in the Capital One Cup victory over Tranmere, is predicting a big future for the youngster.
"Matt has settled in really well and he gives absolutely everything he has got in every game," Bent said. "I didn't know much about him before he joined us but he has been really impressive in training and in matches.
"In fact, it's hard to believe he has stepped up two divisions. I get the feeling we will be seeing a lot more of him in the coming months. It would not surprise me if he doesn't follow in the footsteps of another former Sheffield United player Kyle Walker, who was on loan here and is now England's first-choice right-back."
