Fiorentina's Alberto Aquilani has been ruled out for two weeks with an Achilles injury.
Aquilani, 28, has been restricted to two substitute appearances since joining the Fiorentina from Liverpool over the summer as a result of the niggling injury but had been in line to start this weekend's Serie A match against Catania.
However, Fiorentina have confirmed the problem that has disrupted the start of Aquilani's season will require more time to heal.
A statement on the club's website read: "ACF Fiorentina announces that Alberto Aquilani was visited today in London by Prof. Nicola Maffulli regarding his Achilles tendinopathy.
"The specialist found no significant changes, but suggested, however, treatment for another two weeks.''
