Juve tie up Bendtner loan

Juventus have announced the signing of Nicklas Bendtner on a season-long loan from Arsenal.

• Del Piero to sign for Sydney

His arrival brings an end to Juve's long search for a new striker this summer, with attempts to sign the likes of Robin van Persie, Luis Suarez and Fernando Llorente all unsuccessful.

The loan includes the option of a permanent deal, and a club statement said: "Nicklas Bendtner is a Juventus player. The club has reached an agreement with Arsenal for the temporary acquisition - with a right to buy option of the sporting rights of the Danish attacker, born in 1988. The former Gunner has signed a contract valid until June 30 2013."

Bendtner, 24, spent last season on loan with Sunderland after failing to establish himself in the first team at Emirates Stadium.

The Denmark striker has been with Arsenal since 2005, but both parties had acknowledged earlier this summer that a move would be his best option.

He wrote on his Twitter account: "I can now finally say I am a Juventus player. Very proud and can't wait to wear the stripes! I hope we will have great times together.

"I want to fulfil my potential here and show the fans my absolute best, as that is yet to come. I am sure I will. Thanks for all the support from the Arsenal fans and the Sunderland fans - means the world. We always believe, and that gets us far!"
