U.S.'s Alejandro Bedoya scores in debut

Associated Press

American midfielder Alejandro Bedoya scored on a bicycle kick in his debut for Helsingsborg, which lost 2-1 at Elfsborg in the Swedish league.

Bedoya, who transferred from financially troubled Glasgow Rangers, put the visitors ahead in the 36th minute after a free kick landed in the penalty area and popped out to him at the 6-yard box.

Elfsborg scored two goals in four second-half minutes to come from behind and win.

Elfsborg appeared to be headed for just a fifth defeat of the season after Bedoya's goal, but Andreas Augustsson sparked a comeback that was finished off by Viktor Claesson.

Information from The Associated Press and Press Association was used in this report.
