Injured Herd forced to wait

ESPN staff

Aston Villa's Chris Herd must wait to make his full international debut after withdrawing from Australia's squad to take on Scotland in a friendly.

Herd, 23, has picked up a thigh strain and also withdrew from two previous squads due to injury. The midfielder will not travel with the team to Edinburgh as Australia prepare to face Scotland for the first time since 2000, when Frank Farina's side won 2-0 at Hampden Park.

Socceroos coach Holger Osieck has not named a replacement for Wednesday's clash at Easter Road, which is followed by World Cup qualifiers against Jordan on September 11 and Iraq five days later.
