Baggies sign striker Rosenberg

West Brom have confirmed the signing of Swedish striker Markus Rosenberg on a three-year deal.

Rosenberg, 29, joins the Baggies after leaving Werder Bremen at the end of last season, becoming new manager Steve Clarke's fourth signing of the summer.

The former Ajax player boasts a consistent goalscoring record in Germany, Spain and Holland and had been wanted by a number of clubs in both Europe and China.

He joins midfielder Claudio Yacob, winger Yassine El Ghanassy (on loan from AA Gent) and goalkeeper Ben Foster as a new arrival at the Hawthorns.

"I'm delighted to welcome Markus to the club," Clarke said. "He is an experienced striker who has scored goals in three of Europe's top leagues, as well as in the top European competitions, and is determined to prove himself in the Barclays Premier League.

"He will provide real competition for places in the forward areas and hopefully spur on the strikers who are already here. Markus has had several other offers this summer, but made it clear joining West Brom was his first choice.''
