Wigan table £4m Ramis bid

Harry Harris, Football Correspondent

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has confirmed to ESPN that his club have lodged a £4 million bid for Real Mallorca centre-back Ivan Ramis.

Latics manager Roberto Martinez added Aberdeen midfielder Fraser Fyvie to his squad last week and hopes to follow that up with the capture of Ramis, who has interested Sunderland, Aston Villa and Swansea.

Whelan told ESPN: "We have made a bid in the region of £4 million, and we are waiting to see if it will be accepted."

The 27-year-old defender has plenty of experience in La Liga, having played almost 200 games for Mallorca and Valladolid.

Whelan also revealed that Chelsea have yet to table an improved offer for Victor Moses, despite widespread speculation that a new offer has been submitted.

"Everyone keeps telling me Chelsea have come up with a new offer, but we have yet to hear from them," he said.
