Soldado signs new deal

Roberto Soldado has extended his contract with Valencia until the summer of 2017, having been overlooked by Vicente Del Bosque for the Spain squad at the European Championship.

Soldado, 27, was the joint top-scoring Spaniard in La Liga last campaign, scoring 17 goals as Valencia finished third in the league for the third consecutive season.

However, following a poor return in the final weeks of the season, Soldado found himself outside of the national team's plans for the summer. For Valencia and new manager Mauricio Pellegrino, though, he remains a crucial member of the team.

President Manuel Llorente told the club's website: "Roberto's performance is fantastic as everyone has seen. His application, desire to do the best for Valencia and winning mentality is a key part of this Valencia side and a reference for the Valencia support.''
