Newcastle United are keeping a keen eye on Twente defender Roberto Rosales, according to the player's agent, Claudio Barrios.

Magpies boss Alan Pardew is thought to be in the market for a right-back this summer, with Danny Simpson's future up in the air at present.

"Newcastle and FC Porto are two clubs that are closely following Roberto," Barrios said in the Evening Chronicle.

"There is also interest from two German and two Spanish clubs. But the transfer market will be open for a long time and I remind everyone that most deals will be completed in August."

Rosales, a 23-year-old Venezuela international, has made 28 league appearances for Twente this season, scoring once.

Before linking up with the Eredivisie side in 2010, he spent three years with AA Gent in Belgium. He has 33 caps for his country.
