Real Sociedad have confirmed that manager Philippe Montanier will remain at the club next season after he guided the Basque side to 12th place in the Primera Division.
Montanier, 47, took over at Sociedad last summer after two seasons with Valenciennes and the former Nantes and Toulouse goalkeeper helped steer the club to a mid-table finish, though he has received criticism from fans for the tactics he used.
The Frenchman has one year remaining on his current contract, but Sociedad decided to take the step of announcing that he will remain at Anoeta next season.
"The board of directors of Real Sociedad have decided that the coach Philippe Montanier will remain in office for another season," a statement from Sociedad said.
"The French trainer will therefore carry out his second year at the club, at which he arrived in July 2011.''
