Pennant hit with drink-driving charge

Stoke's Jermaine Pennant has been charged with drink-driving after a crash in Greater Manchester.

Pennant, 29, was driving a BMW when he collided with an Audi in Cross Street, Sale, at around 5:20am on Sunday.

The midfielder has been charged with drinking and driving, driving while disqualified and having no insurance. He will appear before Trafford magistrates on May 9.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "At about 5.20am on Sunday April 29, police were called to Cross Street to reports a white BMW collided with a silver Audi.

"The driver of the Audi went to hospital for treatment. He was treated for a minor injury to the back. He has been discharged."
