Bayern coach Heynckes: Criticism is fair

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes insists he deserves all the criticism coming his way.

Heynckes has watched his side slip to third in the Bundesliga table, four points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund, and lose the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie to Basle.

Bayern's form has been poor since the winter break, with defeat at title rivals Borussia Monchengladbach and draws with struggling Hamburg and Freiburg.

They also lost 1-0 in Basle to leave themselves in danger of going out of Europe and Heynckes has come under increasing pressure.

"The criticism is justified,'' he was quoted as saying by the Bild newspaper. "We are no longer playing on the level we were up to October. Also, I have to let the criticism fall on me.''

Bayern will slip to fourth in their lose to Schalke on Sunday.
