De Bruyne retains hope of Chelsea deal

Kevin de Bruyne claims he still remains in Chelsea's plans despite failing to secure a move to Stamford Bridge last summer.

The winger looked set to move to the Premier League, but Chelsea pulled out of the deal, refusing to meet Genk's £8 million valuation.

But De Bruyne, who impressed at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea played Genk in the Champions League knockout stages earlier this season, has pleaded for Andre Villas-Boas to revive negotiations, admitting he has no intention of staying in Belgium beyond the end of the season.

"Chelsea are still interested in me and already have a plan in place for me," De Bruyne was quoted as saying in the Sun. "Staying at Genk for another season is not an option for me.

"Chelsea were serious about signing me but maybe Genk's asking price was too high."
