The score was locked at 0-0 at the end of normal time, with Matavz finally making the breakthrough in the 102nd minute.

Substitute Marc Janko equalised for Twente from the spot in the 110th minute before Matavz scored the winner four minutes later to avoid the lottery of a penalty shootout.

In the night's other game, Stanley Aborah's last-minute winner saw ten-man Vitesse Arnhem beat Eerste Divisie side FC Eindhoven 2-1 to progress to the last eight.

Giorgi Chanturia put Vitesse in front in the 79th minute after Guram Kashia saw red early in the second half.

Sjors Paridaans equalised two minutes later but the Eredivisie side had the final word when Aborah snatched the win with a 90th-minute score.
