Tranmere assistant John McMahon will take charge of his first game at Prenton Park in nearly 10 years against Coventry.

McMahon has been a caretaker boss at Rovers twice before, mostly recently in 2006, and will select a team following the Sky Bet League One club's decision to suspend Ronnie Moore earlier in the week while the Football Association determines whether he breached betting rules.

McMahon has a wealth of options at his disposal and could choose to welcome veterans Ian Goodison and Andy Robinson back into the fold, with the two relegated to the substitutes bench in recent matches under Moore.

One player McMahon will not be picking is forward Akpo Sodje, who joined Macclesfield on loan on Thursday.

Coventry will assess Nathan Delfouneso and Joe Murphy while Chuba Akpom definitely misses out.

On-loan Aston Villa striker Delfouneso (thigh) missed Tuesday's disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Carlisle - a third loss in four games for the Sky Blues - while goalkeeper Murphy has this week been struck down by illness.

On-loan striker Akpom, meanwhile, has been temporarily recalled by parent club Arsenal for involvement in two important upcoming youth-team fixtures but will return to City next week.

Full-back Blair Adams and midfielder Mark Marshall are both available after illness and a hamstring injury respectively. Striker Callum Wilson, who has not featured since New Year's Day, has also returned to training and is aiming to make his comeback from a dislocated shoulder against Shrewsbury next weekend.
