Captain Richard Keogh will return to contention for Steve McClaren's first game as Derby head coach against Leeds at Pride Park.

Keogh was sent off during the 1-0 defeat to east midlands rivals Nottingham Forest last Saturday, which proved to be Nigel Clough's last match as manager as he was sacked just hours afterwards, and served a one-match suspension on Tuesday night as the Rams fought back from 4-1 down at half-time to rescue a point from a 4-4 draw at home to Ipswich.

Kieron Freeman was absent against the Tractor Boys due to illness but he too will come back into the reckoning.

However, McClaren will be without injured midfield trio Paul Coutts (dislocated kneecap), Jeff Hendrick (ankle) and James Bailey (knee) and goalkeeper Adam Legzdins (ankle).

Leeds manager Brian McDermott is expected to name an unchanged starting line-up after his side returned to winning ways in midweek.

McDermott made three changes when Leeds ended a four-game losing run with a 2-1 home win over Bournemouth on Tuesday night, with striker Noel Hunt, midfielder Paul Green and defender Tom Lees returning to the side.

The Leeds boss has no new injury or suspension worries and is expected to keep changes to a minimum, but those players dropped in midweek - Luke Varney, Luke Murphy and Scott Wootton - are all hoping for recalls.

Right-back Sam Byram is also in contention for a recall after he was an unused substitute in midweek.
