Player-manager Ian Murray's Dumbarton debut looks set to be delayed for a fifth time as a pitch inspection has been called ahead of the Scottish Cup tie with Hamilton.

If the game does go ahead, the Sons will be missing Murray following recent groin surgery as well the long-term injured Pat Walker and Kevin Nicol.

Goalkeeper Stephen Grindlay is available before serving a league suspension and James Creaney has shrugged off a knock and can feature.

Recently-appointed Murray said: "It has been a frustrating time as I have still not been properly able to gauge the strength of my players.

"It is a game I am really keen to get under my belt but I may have to be patient for a bit longer.''

Hamilton striker Darian MacKinnon, who has returned from a loan spell at Ayr, could start.

Manager Billy Reid can also call on Louis Longridge and Jon Routledge after the pair returned from injury.

Missing for the Accies will be injured trio Stephen Hendrie, Kieran Millar and Jon McShane, the suspended Jonathan Page as well as on-loan pair Gary Fisher and Stevie May who have not been given permission to play by their clubs Kilmarnock and St Johnstone.

Reid said: "We have been using an indoor facility to keep the boys ticking over but it is quite a frustrating time.

"I am now preparing two teams for different games as the Dumbarton team is missing three strong players.''
