Norwich will welcome defender Michael Turner back into their squad for the Capital One Cup quarter-final against Aston Villa.

Turner has missed the last four games but returns from a shoulder problem in time for the match at Carrow Road, although Alexander Tettey (thigh) remains sidelined and Ryan Bennett is also unavailable through an unspecified injury.

Steven Whittaker (hip) and Wes Hoolahan (groin) are doubts for Chris Hughton's side with John Ruddy (thigh) and Harry Kane (metatarsal) definitely missing.

Meanwhile, Paul Lambert insists his focus is on trying to guide Aston Villa into the semi-finals than any possible backlash from Norwich fans.

Lambert will return to Carrow Road for the first time since his acrimonious departure during the summer to take charge of Villa.

The Scot and Norwich, whom he led to successive promotions, are both suing each other for breach of contract.

But Lambert is more concerned for the immediate future about sustaining the momentum Villa have derived from a four-game unbeaten run.

He said: "My feelings going back will be the same as it would be if it wasn't Norwich, because it's a chance to get through another round and that's what we'll try to do.

"I think people will make more of it than I actually will. I'll just get on with it. It's another game for me.

"I have always treated football that way. It's never about me. It's about the team that goes there and about the fans that come and watch us.''

Villa skipper Ron Vlaar, who is battling to overcome a calf injury, said: "While picking up points is a priority, cup competitions provide a way to a trophy.

"Having fought our way into the last eight, we are determined to clinch a place in the quarter-finals.''

Midfielder Ashley Westwood is cup-tied, having already played in the competition for his previous club Crewe this season before making the move to Villa in late August.

Karim El Ahmadi is the obvious contender to replace Westwood.
