Maribor forward Robert Beric is refusing to give up on progressing to the last 32 of the Europa League.

The Slovenian minnows travel to Panathinaikos needing victory to continue threatening Group J heavyweights Lazio and Tottenham.

A 3-1 defeat at White Hart Lane in round four left Maribor in third place and Beric knows the odds are stacked against them.

"The game against Tottenham was hard. Tottenham showed that they were too strong for us,'' he said.

"But we still have a chance so we will give everything to qualify.

"In Slovenia against Lazio we have a chance, but we think we have a good chance going to Panathinaikos too.''

Beric's fellow forward Tavares agrees that Maribor will not raise the white flag while two rounds remain.

"Tottenham are a big team and were the favourites, but at Maribor we believe in ourselves so 3-1 away from home isn't a great result,'' he said.

"We still have a chance of qualifying and we'll give everything to do it.''

Panathinaikos prop up Group J with only two points from their two matches and must win if they are to have any hope of finishing in second place.

Maribor triumphed 3-0 when the rivals met for the first time in round one with Beric, Agim Ibraimi and Tavares on target.

Panathinaikos sacked coach Jesualdo Ferreira last week in response to their poor start to the campaign with Ioannis Vanortas and Juan Ramsn Rocha in temporary charge until the end of the season.
