Borussia Monchengladbach striker Mike Hanke has promised that his side will go "full out'' for a vital victory over AEL Limassol in their Europa League clash on Thursday.

Limassol cannot qualify for the knockout stages after taking just one point from their first four games in Group C, a goalless draw in September's reverse fixture.

But the two places in the last 32 remain up for grabs, even though group leaders Fenerbahce already have 10 points and lie five ahead of both Borussia and Marseille.

Wins for Borussia and Marseille - who are at home to Fener - on Thursday would leave all three teams battling for qualification on matchday six, when Limassol will host Marseille and the Bundesliga side travel to Turkey.

"We're going full out to win against Limassol,'' Hanke told his club's official website. "There can be no thought of us losing.

"We're the clear favourites and we aim to demonstrate that on Thursday.''

Hanke hit the post in the reverse fixture as Borussia were left to rue Oscar Wendt's missed penalty.

"Limassol will defend very deeply and wait for a chance to break,'' Hanke added. "We need to be patient. In recent games we've shown we're capable of creating chances and converting them.''

Captain Filip Daems (groin) was absent from training on Tuesday and looks set to miss out, but Tony Jantschke - who picked up an ankle injury in the weekend loss to Stuttgart - was at least able to complete some of the drills with his team-mates and could feature.

Limassol coach Jorge Costa is struggling with an injury-hit squad but told his club's website: "Nevertheless, we are confident and believe in the team despite the problems we face.

"We will try to make a good game and get a good result."
