Rochdale captain Peter Cavanagh is a major doubt for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy game against Fleetwood.

The right-back missed the weekend's 2-0 victory over struggling Barnet with a calf injury and is unlikely to return to face the Cod Army.

Long-term absentees Luke Watson (knee) and Reece Gray (broken leg) remain on the sidelines along with goalkeeper Matt Edwards, who has a wrist injury.

Dale boss John Coleman will be pleased there are no new injury concerns or suspensions following their win at the weekend.

Rochdale reached the Northern Section quarter-final last season and will be hoping to get past Micky Mellon's team in the first meeting between the two clubs.

Coleman's men recorded their first win of the season against the Bees and will be looking to record back-to-back wins for the first time for almost a year.

Dean Howell will be suspended for Fleetwood.

The defender is serving a one-match ban after being dismissed for using an outstretched arm to clear the ball off the line in the 4-0 home win against Aldershot.

Cod Army boss Micky Mellon has no new injury concerns ahead of the cup tie, their first meeting with John Coleman's side.

Midfielder Alex Marrow is still awaiting his full debut after joining on loan from Crystal Palace and may be given an opportunity to impress, should Mellon choose to make changes.

Marrow made a substitute appearance in the victory at the weekend, along with Steven Gillespie and Barry Nicholson, who will be also hoping for a start.

The Lancashire club have recorded successive league victories and will go to Spotland looking to continue their good form.
