Despite a 3-2 defeat to Atalanta last weekend, Inter Milan remain serious Serie A title contenders according to their former striker Jurgen Klinsmann.

In Europe with his United States team this week, Klinsmann caught up with his former club and paid his compliments to their coach Andrea Stramaccioni, a man he feels can lead the Nerazzurri back to the Scudetto after a two-year drought.

"I think he can because he's young and, to win 10 games in a row, you've got to be doing something right and have the players following you,'' said the former Bayern Munich coach.

"Experience is important, but even a debutant has the innocence which can help.

"I feel that Inter are on the right path, despite the slip-up against Atalanta.''

Victory over Cagliari at the San Siro tomorrow can get them back on course for the Scudetto, but Klinsmann has warned that a second straight defeat can soon turn the tide in the opposite direction.

"When we Germans were at Inter, we had a lot of success when we were all getting on and doing well, but in 1992, when there was a slight mishap, then everything fell apart in the dressing room,'' he told the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.

Cagliari could be just the side to prompt that mishap and their defender Luca Rossettini has warned of the perils of facing an Inter side off the back of a defeat.

"They are dangerous because they are wounded,'' he said on his club's website.

"They are a team full of winners and they are playing a great season so we must not lower our guard, not even for a second.

"Inter have seriously strong attackers who can punish you in an instant.''

After a four-game winning streak which coincided with the arrival of Ivo Pulga on the Sardinian's bench, defeat to Fiorentina and a 0-0 draw with Catania have left Cagliari in mid-table for their trip to Lombardy.
